Role Play Rules [MUST READ BEFORE ROLE PLAYING] Empty Role Play Rules [MUST READ BEFORE ROLE PLAYING]

Post by The Creator Thu May 30, 2013 3:45 am

As most people know, role play is a very hard thing to create rules for, because almost anything is possible, depending on the actual role play its self. Here are some basic rules which will be updated as we continue onward in this world of role play.

  1. Language - THERE WILL BE NO SWEARING IN THE ROLE PLAYS ON THIS SITE - If you do not like this rule, well you know where the log off button is. Your threads will either be deleted or locked until we decide the course of action as staff.

  2. Orders - All role play threads will have a an order of posting if there is more than one character, below is how it will look.
    Character A
    Character B
    Character C
    Character A
    Character B
    Character C
If someone does not post in an ACTIVE thread, then the next person will be able to post, that person may join in later wherever they can. If someone joins the thread after everyone has started, then they are allowed to join where they can, they then follow the order with them where they are, below is an example of this.
    Character A
    Character B
    Character C
    Character A
    Character B
    Character C
    Character A
    Character D
    Character B
    Character C
    Character A
    Character D
    Character B
    Character C

  3. Word Count - To make it so everyone has a chance to make a role play good or discriptive, the average word count for a post is 100 words. This is so Role plays don't go dead because of lack of detail and other people not being able to post because they don't know what to write after there has been a lack of knowledge of whats happening.

  4. God Modding - "God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.

-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission.
-It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with. In other words, if you do not RP as
Legolas, then you cannot have Legolas say anything, or do anything, without the player's express permission.

The absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they’re not, just to make their own character seem superior. They make others seem weak, screaming for help, when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. This is called power-play. It’s a strain of God-Modding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot.
This is a prime example of God Modding:

    Player A: Punches Player B
Player B: Dodges attack, grabs Player A and throws him. Player A flies at Player B, who warps behind him and slashes Player A in the back.
IF ANYONE IS CAUGHT GODMODDING, THEY WILL BE GET A VERBAL WARNING, THEN THEIR IP ADDRESS AND ACCOUNT WILL BE BANNED FOR ONE WEEK IF IT PERSISTS.

  5. Power-Playing -
Power playing occurs in role playing, and it's when you control someone else's character, as well as your own, without the other person's permission
Say that I play Bob, and someone else is Susie.

Bob watched Susie as she started to walk away. he ran up to her, the girl of his dreams, and yelled, "SUSIE, DON"T LEAVE ME!" She turned around, and glared at him, with resentment in her eyes, before walking up to him, slapping him, and then walking away again

As you can see, if this were a post, I'd be typing Bob's actions, as well as Susie's. The fact that I'm typing Susie's actions is power playing.
POWER PLAYING IS ALSO STRICTLY FORBIDDEN FROM THIS SITE, YOU WILL GET A WARNING AND THEN IF IT PERSISTS YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE SITE FOR 1 WEEK.

Things may be added to this as the site progresses and so please keep an eye on the update forum to see if anything has been added. Thank you.
